What’s in my makeup bag?

October 19, 2014

I do not have an extensive makeup collection. What I have in my makeup bag is pretty much half of the entirety of my collection except for a couple of necessities and tools that I do not take with me because they’re either too big to fit in the bag, or I could just get away without using them on the rare times I do touch-ups. I don’t even necessarily need to bring a makeup bag since I usually only end up retouching my lipstick. But every girl wants to be armed for emergencies, so taking a couple essentials is always a good idea.

A. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in West (dark brown pearl) & Black Market (charcoal black satin)

I switch up these two every now and then, but I think I love West more as it’s not too overpowering. There are times when I want to open up my eyes more and I end up using it not only on the lower water/lash line but on the upper water/lash line as well.

BUY: N/A. These eye pencils are part of a limited edition 6 piece set that was sold for $36.

B. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

It took me a couple of months before I started using this because I was so attached to my LORAC The Stylist palette. I’ve been reaching for this more than The Stylist lately since it’s a perfect and convenient palette to do an every day basic eye makeup. You can also do an easy smokey eye with this if you ever want to upgrade your look for a night out.

For everyday makeup this is what I do:

  1. I start with Walk of Shame all over my lid.
  2. NAKED 2 from the outer lid to the middle.
  3. FAINT on my outer lid then taking it up a bit to the outer crease to deepen the look and blending it all in.
  4. I then finish it off with VENUS as highlight on my brow bone and the inner corner of the eye.
  5. I sometimes pat or reapply a bit of Walk of Shame from the middle to the inner lid.

FYI: I am not a pro at makeup. I just use whatever works for me from years of practice. If it doesn’t make sense then please find your way to a youtube tutorial that may be more helpful.

BUY: $29 at UrbanDecay.com

C. NARS Blush in Orgasm

It’s a cult favorite. Need I say more?

BUY: The one I have is a mini which is part of the NARS Modern Audacious Iconic gift set that I got from a 500 point perk at Sephora. Buy the full size here for $30.

D. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil

This is a medium/deep matte bronzer that isn’t intimidating to use unlike most bronzers. This one blends seamlessly if you want a subtle contour or just a bit of a glow.

BUY: Mine’s a deluxe sample that I got for free from Sephora. Full size is available on the Too Faced site for $30.

E. ALTERNA Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist

This is a deluxe sample that I got from Sephora. I rarely style my hair so I use this instead to keep my hair shiny and smelling good when I don’t use shampoo and conditioner for the day. It helps smooth out frizzy hair as well, and it’s lightweight so it’s a good product to always take with you for hair emergencies.

BUY: 4.2 oz for $25 at Sephora.

This is a compact mirror that includes a pop-up brush on the other side. I like it a lot since I don’t have to take a separate mirror and a brush.

BUY:  I’m selling it for PHP 500 on Miss Froufrou.

G. LANCOME Hypnôse Star Show-Stopping Volume Mascara in 01 Noir Midnight

This is my favorite mascara. It lengthens and gives my lashes enough volume that lasts all day.

BUY: $28.50 for the full size and prettier packaging.

H. NARS ‘Pro Prime’ Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base

Sadly, not all eyeshadows are created equal. It’s always good to have a primer to prevent creasing or make the eyeshadow last especially on days when I’ll be out for more than 8 hours.

BUY: Available on the NARS Cosmetics website for $25.

I. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics #010S Short-Handled Precision Lip Brush

This one’s included in a lip tar set. It works extremely well and gives you full control despite it’s size.

BUY: The full/standard (?) size #010 Precision Lip Brush is available here for $18.

J. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Matte Lip Tar in Black Dahlia

I talked a bit about this in my previous post. It’s not exactly the best formula for my lips but I am in love with the ‘blackened red’ shade which is perfect for fall or for an all year round bad ass look.

BUY: I have a mini which is part of the Sephora Holiday Exclusive set from last year. Buy the full size here for $18.

K. Maybelline Baby Lips in Smoothing Cherry

I have dry lips that gets chapped easily so this clear lip balm is a required step for me if I want to apply any lipstick flawlessly.

BUY: I forgot how much I got this for. I purchased it at a local drugstore.

L. Makeup Bag

This was a birthday present from Riz. I’m not sure where she purchased it, but I’ll definitely ask and update this post once I get a reply from her. 🙂

BUY: Daiso Japan, Level 3 Ayala Center Cebu, New Wing.

I didn’t include two of the brushes (stippling and powder brush) that I take with me since I have it in a different pouch. I also do not have any brow products because I suck at doing them. I’m just leaving it as it is for now until I learn a passable brow routine. I’ll definitely do an update when that happens.

All in all that’s pretty much it. 🙂 I only switch up a couple of things depending on the look I was going for that day.

  1. Yayyy!! Love this! More more moreee. I wish I can write concisely when it comes to makeup but I just end up rambling like heck. I just started using the Cherry Baby Lips a few months ago and it’s my most favorite lip balm, hands down.
